Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD)

Guidance

The 'Guidance on Identifying and Supporting Learners with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties' aims to:

  • assist teachers, school leaders and school governors in developing a culture of support and empathy in their schools which will lead to a reduction of risk of SEBD; and
  • facilitate the early identification of and intervention for learners with SEBD using a multiagency approach.

Guidance is also available on identifying and supporting young learners who have or are at risk of SEBD.

Resources

Ed Sipler, South Eastern Trust, has kindly allowed us to reproduce copies of booklets he created: 'Bend, Don't Break', 'Bouncing Back', and 'Taking the Lid Off'. Schools may find these useful for working with staff, learners and parents.
