Message to Heads of Centre regarding Vocational Qualification Results – Summer 2023

CCEA Regulation News

Following on from the late awarding of some level 3 vocational qualifications (VQs) in summer 2022, CCEA Regulation has been working with awarding organisations and with our fellow regulators in England and Wales to ensure that complete and correct VQ results can be issued in a timely way in summer 2023.

The three deadlines are:

  1. Friday 26 May 2023 – the latest date by which awarding organisations and schools and colleges agree which students expect to receive a result on 17 August.
  2. Friday 23 June 2023 – the latest date by which awarding organisations and schools and colleges agree the remaining information or evidence needed for each student to receive a result.
  3. Monday 14 August 2023 – the latest date by which awarding organisations should issue results to schools and colleges, to be held embargoed until published date of issue of A level results.

These first two deadlines are designed to bring the eligibility checking process for awarding organisations, schools, and colleges forward into term time, so that students receive their results on time. They do not replace awarding organisations’ existing processes such as marking, moderation and verification.

We appreciate the complexity of examinations administration but ask that you advise your teaching and exams office staff of the importance of meeting these deadlines and respond quickly to information requests and queries from awarding organisations. This will help to ensure that your students receive their results on time.

This is important not only to help ensure parity with those taking general qualifications, but because Covid-19 related adaptations are still in place for modular elements of some VQs, making administration more complex than usual. Your staff should also raise any queries or concerns directly with awarding organisations as early as possible.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for all you have been doing in the delivery of qualifications and for your support given to students over the coming months as they prepare for assessments and receive their results.
