CCEA Regulation has received approval from the Minister for the Economy on the approach in vocational and technical qualifications in the 2022-23 academic year as follows:
- Align with the OFQUAL regulatory policy approach and continue the transition towards a new business as usual with a return to pre-pandemic assessment. Thus, there will be no adaptations for VQs in 22/23, and AOs will be expected to conduct their awarding and assessing in accordance with the General Conditions of Recognition (GCoR).
- VQ grading standards for 22/23 will aim to return to pre-pandemic levels.
With regard to Essential Skills (ES) in NI, assessment and awarding will return to pre-pandemic approaches, including the use of summative assessment for ES Application of Number and Communication.
This aligns with the approaches taken in vocational and technical qualifications in England and Wales. CCEA Regulation will work with awarding organisations to implement this policy.
