Post-16 Overview

At post-16, young people can choose from a number of qualifications that we offer at Level 3 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, including GCE A levels.

These qualifications aim to prepare them for further or higher education, training or the world of work.

Learners at this stage have already completed their 12 years of statutory education; studying is no longer compulsory. However, those who choose to take our qualifications – whether in sixth form at school, at a further education college or in another setting – can continue to develop and apply their knowledge, understanding and skills in the subjects that interest them most. Our qualifications also build on the broad objectives of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and promote skills for life.

As well as a wide range of GCE A levels, we offer a selection of other, non-general qualifications at Level 3 such as the Certificate of Personal Effectiveness.
