The Department of Education has launched a public appointments competition to appoint a Chairperson and Members to the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA).
CCEA is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department of Education. It is responsible for keeping under review all aspects of the curriculum, examinations and assessment for schools including developing, conducting and moderating qualifications and assessments.
The role of CCEA Chairperson requires strong leadership and demands an ability to make informed strategic decisions, considering opportunity, impact and risk and the ability to influence across a diverse stakeholder base to reform the Northern Ireland curriculum and qualifications, in order to deliver positive learning outcomes for all our children and young people. In supporting the Chairperson, CCEA Board Members too play an important role, requiring a strong ability to support strategic decision making, work well with others, and uphold good governance within an organisation.
The Chairperson role requires between one to two days per week commitment and members approximately two days per month. The annual remuneration of the Chairperson is £20,000. Member positions are unremunerated. Travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed for costs incurred while carrying out CCEA related work.
No specific academic qualifications are required for the posts. Your experience does not necessarily need to be associated directly with the education service but may be from other backgrounds including business or commercial life and/or voluntary service and involvement in the community.
