Nearly 7000 examiners and moderators assessed over 620,000 pieces of work for CCEA this Summer!
CCEA’s examiners and moderators have been praised for their hard work assessing over 620,000 pieces of work this season, enabling students and young people to progress to the next stage of their education or career pathway.
Amanda Swann, CCEA’s Temporary Director of Examinations said:
This year has seen another step forward as we delivered the first full examination series with full assessment criteria to be met, since 2019. Examining, marking, and moderating are essential to this process, and would not be possible without the professionalism and commitment of CCEA's expert examiners and moderators.
On behalf of CCEA, I would like to thank every one of the nearly 7000 examiners and moderators who support us by bringing their expertise and sharing their valuable time during the awarding process.
We wish all students who are receiving their results this week and next the very best and further success in the next phase of their educational journey.
Laura Carson, Chief Examiner for CCEA Government and Politics explains what it means to be a CCEA examiner:
I’ve been a CCEA A level examiner for 10 years, Principal Examiner for GCSE since 2017 and Chief Examiner since 2022, but first and foremost I am a History and Politics A level teacher,”
These roles have enhanced my teaching and confidence as I have a greater insight into the mark schemes, what constitutes a good quality answer, and helping students to avoid the pitfalls that can be made when answering questions.
Being an examiner has allowed me to build an invaluable network of professional contacts where we can share ideas, access new information and get advice and support. I find being an examiner very worthwhile and would recommend it to any teacher who is thinking of becoming an examiner. Best wishes to all students waiting on exam results this summer, and to those beginning their GCSE and A level educational journey.
