Release of Advance Information for Ofqual Regulated General Qualifications

Published: 10/02/2022, 5:30pm

From Monday 7 February, students in Northern Ireland sitting exams with AQA, Eduqas, OCR and Pearson in summer 2022 have access to Advance Information to help focus their revision for GCSE, AS and A level exams, in order mitigate the disruption to learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A common set of principles has been developed for the Advance Information. For example, exam boards have to ensure that the detail provided is at a sufficiently high level so as to avoid the risk of answers being pre-prepared and memorised.

Other adaptations include a choice of topics in some GCSEs such as English literature and history and support materials such as formulae sheets in maths.

For details of the Advance Information, please visit the relevant awarding organisation’s website:

The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has also published a guide to help students understand Advance Information.
