CCEA Pays Tribute to Examiners

The Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) has thanked examiners and moderators for their ongoing contribution to this year’s summer examination process and for their continued support in enabling students and young people to progress to the next stage of their education or career pathway.
More than 4,600 examiners and moderators assessed over 580,000 pieces of candidate’s work this Summer - the first summer series of exams for two years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Amanda Swann, CCEA’s Temporary Director of Examinations said:
Schools and colleges, students and their families, should have confidence in CCEA’s examiners and moderators. Their continued professionalism and dedication to the process has been invaluable.
To ease the transition back to public examinations, CCEA provided additional training and resources for our senior examiners, meaning that both those who have supported us previously and those who are new to the role, were well briefed on summer 22 awarding which should give confidence to young people who are awaiting results.
CCEA’s Senior Examiner Training Programme, launched at the end of 2021, was welcomed by senior examiners and moderators, with over 550 delegates in attendance across the four modules. Each module was supported by an introductory guide to the programme and access to a bespoke secure area of the CCEA website for the necessary training materials.
Results for the summer examination series will be issued to AS, A Level and CoPE students on Thursday 18 August 2022 and to GCSE, Vocational, OLA and Occupational Studies students on Thursday 25 August 2022. Results for the Reserve Examination Series for A level and GCSE will be issued on Thursday 1 September 2022.
"On behalf of everyone at CCEA, I would like to extend a warm thanks to this group for bringing their expertise to the awarding process and helping us meet important milestones," concluded Amanda.
