Education Minister Launches New Resources to CCEAs ‘Northern Ireland @ 100’ Learning Hub

On Thursday 25 November 2021 Education Minister Michelle McIveen launched a series of learning resources as part of the Department of Education’s (DE) NI100 Education Programme.
The 'Life in the 1920s' and 'A Time Capsule for 2021' resources, supported by the Education Authority, are designed to educate, inform, and promote a greater understanding of Northern Ireland’s shared history.
Minister McIlveen, speaking at the launch, said:
"I am pleased to launch these excellent resources today. These exciting education projects have a strong curriculum focus and are designed to enhance the teaching of key areas of learning. History will feel more real and engaging as pupils participate in these hands-on classroom activities."
CCEA’s Curriculum and Assessment Programme Manager, Roisin Radcliffe commented,
"We are delighted to launch these latest learning resources which will be of great use to both teachers and pupils. Both lessons have been designed to be inclusive for all schools and are broad in context to enable use and learning for years to come.
‘A Time Capsule for 2021’ explores how to capture the essence of 2021. The lesson provides a fact file and an animation suitable for Foundation Stage to Key Stage 3.
The ‘Life in the 1920s’ resource contains visually impactful lesson plans highlighting school life 100 years ago in areas such as playground games, food, clothing and the classroom environment. The resource is suitable for Primary and Key Stage 3 pupils.
