Today, the Education Minister has agreed that further adaptations should be made for CCEA’s Occupational Studies qualifications in light of the ongoing challenges posed by the health pandemic.

CCEA welcomes the Minister’s decision and can confirm that the submission date for CCEA Occupational Studies will be extended by one week to 19 May 2021.

We will now review the content of each unit and where appropriate draw up proposals to reduce the practical assessment requirements, whilst also ensuring that the practical opportunities and skills assessed are maximised.

To ensure our proposals have broad support we will also engage with a range of stakeholder, including representatives colleagues across schools, colleges and ETI. As set out by the Department of Education, we plan to update schools and colleges on the further adaptations before the end of January 2021. This information will also be available in the Summer 2021 section of the CCEA website.

While this work is ongoing, CCEA will continue to contribute to the Department of Education’s work on logistical arrangements and contingency plans should any further changes to the public health situation arise.
