Unique Learner Number and Qualifications Update seminars

Working on behalf of the Department of Education, CCEA Regulation has organised a series of meetings in schools across Northern Ireland to discuss the continued roll-out of the Unique Learner Number (ULN).

Around 97% of pupils aged 14+ had ULNs successfully in place for this summer's examination series. Our focus now is on bringing Year 11 pupils into the ULN programme.

The seminars will also give us the opportunity to update schools on ongoing developments with both the ULN and Personal Learning Records (PLR).

What is the ULN?

Every young person in Northern Ireland, England and Wales, aged 14 and over, is assigned a 10-digit Unique Learner Number which can be printed on examination result slips, certificates etc. The ULN matches information from different organisations in one electronic record and includes extra-curricular achievements such as sports coaching, music qualifications and so on.

The ULN and Personal Learning Record help students to apply for higher education, register for courses or seek employment, and reduces the need to provide paper-form certificates of their qualifications.
