UK exam chiefs meet in Belfast

Exams chiefs and Regulators from England, Wales and Northern Ireland have met in Belfast to discuss ongoing cooperation in the running of GCSE and GCE examinations. The meeting brought together leading players from the five main exam boards and regulators, and was hosted by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA).

CCEA Chief Executive Justin Edwards was keen to underline the importance of the occasion:

"Recent years have seen many reforms to GCSEs and A levels. As a result, it is more important than ever to continue to work closely with our counterparts in Wales and England, to ensure comparability and the maintenance of standards. Awarding body officials have met in Belfast before, but this is the first time a meeting with the Regulators has taken place here. We are delighted to be able to host our colleagues and look forward to the productive discussions."
