Woven in Ulster: Ulster-Scots and the Story of Linen
Unit 5 - Linen Going, and Going Global
This Unit examines the final stages of linen production, from the most successful phase of the Ulster industry in the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. It considers the uses of linen and its export. The Unit will alert pupils to the impacts on communities and individuals of industrial decline, and to the process and effects of garment-industry globalisation.
