Post-Primary Pupils: Supporting Your Health and Wellbeing
We recognise that, for many of you, this is an uncertain and stressful period, and we wish to support you in any way we can. We have put together a short resource and some useful links that might help you manage the current situation.
Perhaps you have a friend or family member who is finding the current situation difficult. This resource may give you some suggestions to help them.
CCEA and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY) have worked together to produce a short resource called 12 Ways to Support Your Health & Wellbeing. We hope you find it useful.
Please feel free to use the images contained within the Zip folder to promote this resource across your own social media channels.
Useful Links
Below is list of other websites and organisations offering support in certain areas at this time – we hope you find them useful.
Emotional Dysregulation
After an unprecedented and extended period away from school, it’s vital to emphasise the importance of good emotional health and wellbeing. This poster provides a useful structure for parents whose children are feeling stressed or anxious.
Social and Emotional Learning competencies
Research shows that developing pupils Social and Emotional Learning competencies can help to support and improve their Emotional Health and Wellbeing (EHWB) (Durlak et al., 2011).
To support schools to develop pupils’ social and emotional learning we have developed a proposed Social and Emotional Learning Competency Framework for post-primary schools. The SEL competencies complement the other skills and personal capabilities in the Northern Ireland Curriculum. They can be taught through all subjects alongside subject knowledge in same way Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities are taught. We are currently producing post-primary guidance on developing a whole school approach to Emotional Health and Wellbeing (EHWB) and SEL. This will provide more information about developing pupil SEL competencies.
