Using ICT Teaching and Learning Units
Digital Storytelling: Presenting
These resources will enable teachers to introduce Digital Storytelling and Presenting activities into their classroom practice, developing the children’s digital (ICT) skills as well as their digital literacy awareness.
Presentation does not mean simply using a presentation tool. It is about the children creating a product that will act as a visual stimulus as they present to an audience. The product requires the presenter to explain further. Presenting can give children the opportunity to express themselves creatively and to communicate confidently.
Foundation Stage
At Foundation Stage, the key concepts and ICT skills involved in the three modes of Digital Storytelling are the same. There is an emphasis on the unplugged (not using technology) activities at this stage. Whether the children create an animation, a film, a presentation or a digital publication, they will need to have an understanding of the same concepts. Therefore, all three modes of ICT included in Digital Storytelling (Presenting; Publishing; Film & Animation) are addressed together in the Foundation Stage book.
Key Stage 1
Presenting can be a tool to help children to express themselves creatively and to communicate confidently using a variety of skills and media.
At Key Stage 1, children will become more independent in their planning for, creating and delivering presentations. You should encourage them to start the process of making their presentation by planning.
There is much more to presenting than simply filling slides with information. Children need to learn to think about how the content they select matches the message that they are trying to get across.
Key Stage 2
This resource will enable Key Stage 2 teachers to develop Digital Storytelling: Presenting activities into their classroom practice.
This will develop the children’s digital (ICT) skills as well as their digital literacy awareness.
It provides ideas to support your teaching of presenting and has been designed for a wide range of learner and teacher ability."
