The end of the War of Independence brought with it the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty and the official partitioning of the island of Ireland. The decision to partition the country was not welcomed by all, as Pro and Anti-treaty factions formed, firstly as opponents in the general election and then in the war that followed.
