It also addresses a key element of the curriculum. Watch our animation, then read on to find out more.
Sustainability in the Northern Ireland Curriculum from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 3
There’s an urgent need in today’s world to protect children from potential harm linked to the environment and climate crisis. At the same time, Education for Sustainable Development has been part of the Northern Ireland Curriculum right from its inception in 2007. It should inform curriculum delivery across the Areas of Learning and at every key stage.
This paper sets out a contemporary view of the place of sustainability in the curriculum. We hope that you find its suggestions helpful as you seek opportunities to create relevant, meaningful learning experiences in your school.
