Creating a Time Capsule Lesson Plans
Foundation Stage: Creating a Time Capsule
Children explore the concept of ‘a long time’ and think about the future through the story of Sleeping Beauty. Children have opportunities to select, create and gather items for their school time capsule.
Key Stage 1: Creating a Time Capsule
Pupils learn about the significance of a time capsule and participate in engaging activities to capture what is special about them and their locality in 2021.
Key Stage 2: Creating a Time Capsule
Pupils have opportunities to explore special events and experiences, focusing on positive memories to share with others. Pupils will reflect on everyday technology and think critically about how to explain 2021 to those who will open the time capsule in the future.
Key Stage 3: Creating a Time Capsule
Pupils have opportunities to think critically about different types of evidence and sources. Pupils will consider which aspects of their lives they wish to share with others in the future, leading to creating a meaningful time capsule.
SEN Key Stage 2: Creating a Time Capsule
Pupils explore the concept of ‘long ago’ through a short video with Makaton signing telling the story of Sleeping Beauty. They have opportunities to engage in shared and practical work to select, create and gather items for their 2021 school time capsule.
SEN Key Stage 3: Creating a Time Capsule
Pupils learn about the concept of a time capsule and participate in shared and practical activities to capture fond personal memories, explore their favourite places and share interesting and exciting events.
