You may find the Sensory writing for place or setting resource useful. It has been designed to help pupils to structure their thinking around using sensory language to enliven descriptions. The work sheet is editable, so you or your pupils can choose an atmospheric picture and use the sensory prompt sheets to record and extend their sensory response to the place. Alternatively, you could read an atmospheric description and allow them to record sensory impressions using the 5 sense think sheets.
