Entitlement Framework

The Entitlement Framework is an education policy which aims to provide young people with access to a broad and balanced curriculum regardless of where they live or which school they attend. The courses available must be relevant and have clear progression pathways.

The Entitlement Framework Policy guarantees young people access to a minimum number of courses at Key Stage 4 and Post-16. One third of the courses must be designated as general and one third must be applied.

The Department of Education specifies the number of courses which must be available and they are also responsible for designating courses as applied or general, based on published definitions.
