GCSE Leisure, Travel and Tourism (2017)
The CCEA GCSE Leisure, Travel and Tourism specification gives students a broad knowledge and understanding of the leisure, travel and tourism industry, which is one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
Students gain insight into current developments in the industry, including technological developments such as social media and the internet. Sustainability is important across the industry. The specification considers the positive and negative social, economic and environmental effects of leisure, travel and tourism development.
Students consider the principles of sustainable tourism. They also investigate attitudes and cultural differences in various destinations, including social customs, dress and food and drink.
Marketing and customer service are major aspects of the industry. Students analyse the effectiveness of promotional material and develop basic customer service skills.
This qualification builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills developed through the Environment and Society Area of Learning.
This specification is unitised, so it’s possible to take part of the assessment at the end of the first year of study.
The specification has three units:
- Unit 1: Understanding the Leisure, Travel and Tourism Industry
- Unit 2: Promoting and Sustaining the Leisure, Travel and Tourism Industry
- Unit 3: Working in the Leisure, Travel and Tourism Industry.
