Careers Occupational Information Unit (COIU) Bulletin - Manufacturing
Please find below a link to the recently published Careers Service Advanced Manufacturing in Northern Ireland careers bulletin.
Northern Ireland has a world-class reputation in advanced manufacturing, which was identified in Rebuilding a Stronger Economy as one of the four sectors integral to rebuilding NI’s economy after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the Department for the Economy’s 10X Economic Vision identified Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering as one of five priority clusters, with the potential to drive the economy forward, providing more, higher-paid jobs within the next decade.
This career bulletin includes short video clips/written articles providing insights into the advanced manufacturing sector, from those who are studying and working in a range of advanced manufacturing disciplines, as well as information on pathways into the advanced manufacturing sector, including further and higher education courses and apprenticeships/higher level apprenticeships.

A plastic alternative made using the by-products of the fishing industry has been awarded the UK national James Dyson Award for 2019.

"having looked through the specification with our academic team, we'd be happy to receive applications from candidates studying either subject at GCSE. They'd have to then go onto study Maths at A Level (or equivalent) and achieve at least a grade A, plus another STEM subject at grade A and another at grade B (any subject) to meet the entry requirements, but I expect the GCSE qualifications would support their application and learning."
