Understand our selection process
Shortlisting process for Full Time Contract and Secondment opportunities
The Application Stage
CCEA application forms are formatted so that applicants are required to demonstrate how each eligibility/short listing criteria is met. Applications are selected on the basis of all the criteria listed in the person specification. Therefore it is important that, when completing the application form, applicants specify how they meet the essential and desirable criteria for the post by highlighting their experience and giving relevant examples.
Applicants who satisfy the short listing criteria will be invited to attend interview, ideally 7 to 10 working days notice of the interview date will be given. For candidates who have not met the required standard, letters will be dispatched at the same time.
The Interview Stage
The interviews are competency based and this gives candidates the opportunity to discuss their application in more detail and find out more about working at CCEA.
Depending on the post, applicants will be asked to undertake additional assessment exercises. These assessments/exercises will normally be on the same day as the interview.
As a guide, the assessment could consist of a presentation (either prepared in advance of the day or on your arrival), answer a scenario or a requirement to undertake an aptitude test relevant to the post.
All recruitment panels have an obligation to ensure that reasonable adjustments are in place for persons with disabilities. Where an adjustment is required, a People Services and Equality (PSE) representative will liaise directly with the candidate.
The Outcome
Offer of Employment
We will forward an offer pack which will include details of the terms and conditions of employment with CCEA. All offers are subject to 2 satisfactory references and there will be a requirement to attend a pre-employment medical.
Unsuccessful and Reserve Lists
Regret letters will be dispatched at the same time within 7 days of attending the interview. If the panel name reserve candidates they could be offered the vacancy if the successful candidate(s) fail to take up post or if similar posts are created. Reserve lists will be held for a period of 1 year.
Requesting feedback
If a candidate has not been successful through any stage they may request written feedback at the end of the selection process. All requests for feedback should be in writing to:
