The CCEA qualification in English is available at Entry Level, and English Language is available at GCSE. Qualifications in English Literature are available at both GCSE and GCE.

Our specifications in this subject area encourage enjoyment of all aspects of English: reading, writing, speaking and listening, and the study of literary and media texts. Students have opportunities to explore and respond, both imaginatively and critically, to a variety of texts across different platforms and genres. They also practise the core skills of effective communication.

Our Entry Level English award is designed for learners who may not yet be ready for a qualification at GCSE level or equivalent.

The CCEA GCSE English Language qualification is designed to be compatible with CCEA GCSE English Literature.

We have developed the CCEA GCE English Literature qualification so that it builds on the skills and knowledge acquired at GCSE level.
