Mouth Organ

Intro

A free-reed instrument, also known as the harmonica, it was developed from the early 19th century in Germany. By the early 20th century, it had become hugely popular and was used globally in many different musical styles.

Chromatic and diatonic harmonicas are both available.

The Murphy family of Carrick-on-Bannow in County Wexford have for many years championed this instrument. New Zealand-born Brendan Power has also done much to enhance its reputation.
