Research on Controlled Assessment

The three qualifications regulators in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Ofqual, Welsh Government and CCEA Accreditation, commissioned Ipsos MORI in April 2011 to explore the experiences of teachers implementing Controlled Assessment (CA) in nine GCSE subjects: English, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, History, ICT, Design and Technology: Resistant Materials, and Business studies. The final report on the qualitative and quantitative research was published in June 2011.

CCEA Accreditation has also undertaken research, in conjunction with the Welsh Government, AQA, CCEA (Awarding Body), and WJEC, into the issues around using e-Assessment in Controlled Assessment in the United Kingdom. More information on e-Assessment.
