Background of The ReVision

The ReVision is a CCEA programme to revise our A level and GCSE specifications to ensure we maintain our commitments to high quality and to offer a suite of modern qualifications that reflects the needs of learners and the local and global economy. Each revised specification undergoes a rigorous process - this takes 18 months on average - of planning and development alongside consultations with stakeholders, before successfully gaining accreditation. As part of our commitment to supporting teachers in Northern Ireland, CCEA offers a comprehensive support programme for each specification.

The ReVision will provide:

  • modern qualifications that reflect the needs of the local economy
  • an approach were learners are at the centre
  • dedicated subject support packages with engaging events
  • portable qualifications; highly regarded by universities and employers

The ReVision of specifications is about shaping the future together and delivering the right specifications for young people and the Northern Ireland economy. Our revised A levels are for first teaching in September 2016 while revised GCSE's are for first teaching in September 2017.
