GCSE Modern Languages revised specifications now accredited

CCEA is pleased to announce that its suite of GCSE Modern Languages including French, German, Irish and Spanish is now accredited and are available to download from our website. The qualifications are from the second delivery phase of the GCSE revision programme to be accredited.

The suite of revised GCSE Modern Languages is unitised, the Speaking unit is un-tiered. The Listening, Reading and Writing units offer both Foundation and Higher tiers which candidates may be entered for the tier which is most appropriate.

Following the feedback from the teacher consultation period, the suite of Modern Language qualifications has been modified.  Both the Listening and Reading papers have now been designed using the model of varying levels of demand as questions progress throughout the paper.

In addition, both Foundation and Higher Writing papers provide candidates with a choice of topics in relation to Question 4, the Extended Writing Question.

CCEA is following a phased delivery of the GCSE specifications. The phased delivery will comprise of 5 phases, which will see 7 or 8 specifications introduced at each phase. Phase 1 qualifications are fully accredited and available online, you can access the revised specifications here.
