CCEA is delighted to announce that GCSE History is now accredited and available to download from our website. The qualification is the first subject from Phase 2 of the GCSE revision programme to be accredited.
The GCSE History revised qualification will offer learners the opportunity to study significant events and people in the past to provide a greater understanding of the world today. A range of options in Unit 1 and the retention of unitisation offer choice and flexibility for both teachers and learners.
Throughout the consultation process of The ReVision programme, CCEA has listened to teachers and learners to develop a specification that has retained the popular periods of study of the twentieth century world, while at the same time extending some time periods to ensure relevancy and to stimulate the interests of young people today.
The accreditation of GCSE History follows the successful delivery of accredited qualifications in Phase 1 in October 2016. CCEA anticipates that the remaining qualifications from Phase 2; French, German, Irish, Spanish, Gaelige, English (Language) and Mathematics; will be accredited and available online in the coming weeks.
CCEA is following a phased delivery of the GCSE specifications. The phased delivery will comprise of 5 phases, which will see 7 or 8 specifications introduced at each phase. Phase 1 qualifications are fully accredited and available online:
