Teachers, family and friends celebrated the success of 44 outstanding local students who were recognised at CCEA’s annual GCE Celebrating Excellence Awards.
The students, from 32 schools from across Northern Ireland were recognised for achieving top marks in the CCEA GCE summer 2016 examinations. Held at Parliament Buildings, on 14 December, the Minister for Education Peter Weir MLA congratulated the students on their success at A level:
Speaking at the event, Minister Weir said:
“I would like to congratulate all those students who received an award this evening. Their outstanding achievements recognise and reward hard work over many years and I wish them well as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Education is at the core of any society and it is important that we celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of all our pupils, our teachers and our schools.”
Justin Edwards, Chief Executive at CCEA, was also there to congratulate the students. He commented:
The motivation, determination and hard work of these students is an example to us all. I appreciate how much work has gone in to achieving these outstanding results and my congratulations go to all the winners here this evening. I wish them every success in the next stage of their educational journeys and future careers. Additionally, I’m sure all of our award winners would join me in recognising the vital role played by their teachers, family and friends – warmest congratulations to all.
