CCEA has recently reviewed its Entry Level Qualification (ELQ) provision and has developed new specifications for first teaching in September 2015. These specifications have been developed to meet the needs of students in Northern Ireland with special educational needs and those whose ability is below GCSE level.
The new specifications have been developed on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), rather than the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) as originally planned. However, the specifications will still retain the benefits to learners and teachers as the QCF system allows, for example certification at unit and at overall qualification level. They are also 100% internally assessed.
These are draft accredited specifications that are undergoing internal pre-publication checks. Final accredited versions of these specifications will be uploaded online once these checks have been completed.
