CCEA A level Mathematics first teaching now revised to September 2017

Following recommendations from the CCEA Council, the Minister for Education has agreed to move back the introduction of revised GCE specifications for CCEA Mathematics and Further Mathematics to September 2017. This brings CCEA in line with the introduction of revised Mathematics specifications by awarding organisations in England and Wales.

The Regulator’s Accreditation Manager Roger McCune commented:

“The original intention was to deliver revised Mathematics specifications along with the rest of the CCEA GCE portfolio in September 2016. However, following a report by the A Level Content Advisory Board (ALCAB) and the subsequent delays announced in England and Wales, we have reviewed this timescale.

With Mathematics content there are particular considerations with regard to comparability. Our aim is to ensure that all Mathematics specifications offered here are of the highest quality. Delaying the introduction of revised specifications for Mathematics until September 2017 will ensure that the content will be informed by parallel developments in England and Wales.”

The up to date timetable for the introduction of all GCSE and GCE subjects across all awarding organisations can be found on the QualsNI area of this website.
