Mr Enda Cullen, Principal of St Joseph's Grammar School, Donaghmore, has been appointed Vice Chairman of the Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA). Mr Cullen, from Armagh, has been Principal at St Joseph's since 2008 and has extensive experience in governance including budget management and knowledge and experience of education.
He was first appointed to the CCEA Council in January 2013 and will take up this new role with immediate effect.
This is a very important time for education in Northern Ireland and CCEA has a key role to play in providing well informed advice to the Department of Education about the school curriculum, assessment and qualifications. Following a fundamental review of GCSE and A Levels carried out by CCEA, the Minister has recently a accepted all of the recommendations made.
The role of Council is very important in providing the overall strategic direction of CCEA within the policy and resourcing framework set by the Minister for Education and the Department of Education.
Council consists of members with a wide range of expertise in education and business and Enda will play a key role supporting the Chairman.
