The Stormont Hotel, Belfast was overflowing with talent as CCEA held the annual 'Celebrating Excellence' awards ceremony recognising Northern Ireland's top GCSE students on Wednesday 26th March.
The Celebrating Excellence Awards is a key event in the CCEA's yearly calendar that recognises the highest achievers in Northern Ireland at GCSE in the previous summer exam series.
This year 56 top candidates travelled from 41 different schools across Northern Ireland to have their exceptional achievements recognised in front of an audience of over 250 family, friends and teachers.
Richard Hanna, Chief Executive at CCEA, was there to congratulate the students. He commented:
"These are all truly remarkable young individuals and an inspiration to us all. CCEA would like to congratulate and thank all of the parents and teachers who were with us today, for the support and guidance afforded to all of our award winners.
For 20 years CCEA's core ethos has been "To enable the full potential of all learners to be achieved and recognised". This ethos is very much at the heart of today's award ceremony.
It has been a privilege to shine a spotlight today on the incredible achievements of our top students and also recognise the outstanding work that takes place throughout the schools and colleges across Northern Ireland."
In addition to recognising the amazing achievements of young students CCEA's Chairman Trevor Carson also paid tribute to the outstanding teaching workforce across Northern Ireland;
"a workforce that nurtures, is dedicated to educating and goes that extra mile for our young generation."
