The G8 summit will take place on 17th and 18th June. During this period we want to assure centres and candidates that contingency measures are in place to cope with any disruption which may be caused to the GCSE and A level examinations.
These tried and tested contingency measures, agreed jointly across the 5 general Awarding Organisations, are designed to ensure that all candidates are treated fairly and consistently.
During the period of the G8 Summit it will be important to keep in mind the following:
- Should centres encounter problems on the day of examination(s) they can contact the relevant Awarding Organisation. Every effort will be made to facilitate candidates taking examinations.
- Centres should focus on enabling the candidates to take their examinations, even if it means that they have to sit these in alternative centres. Awarding organisations can cater for this sort of scenario, provided they are alerted to the situation.
- If everything else fails and a candidate cannot take an exam, he/she may be eligible for special consideration.
In all instances it is important that centres liaise with the relevant awarding organisation to seek guidance/confirmation on what arrangements can be put in place.
