CCEA appoints new Interim Chief Executive

The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) has appointed Richard Hanna as Interim Chief Executive.

Richard was formerly CCEA’s Director of Education Strategy and takes over from Gavin Boyd who will now devote more time to his role as Chief Executive Designate of the Education and Skills Authority (ESA).

Richard has been with CCEA for over eleven years and has been in the role of Director for more than four years. Richard had responsibility for developing policy advice related to curriculum, assessment and reporting and for providing support and guidance to schools. He was also responsible for implementing revised assessment and reporting arrangements.

Prior to joining CCEA, Richard spent 18 years in post primary education as a practising teacher and school manager.

Richard’s experience in the education sector means he is well placed to provide stable leadership and ensure the effective delivery of services to students and teachers.
