Digital Skills training for Key Stage 3 teachers

In December, CCEA will be providing a series of one-day courses aimed at Key Stage 3 teachers of discrete ICT/Computing. The courses are available to book through the Training & Support section of our website. Below is a brief outline of their content.

Web Design including the use of cascading stylesheets(CSS)

In this course, you will become familiar with the structure of a basic website and learn how to modify the HTML/CSS to change the way a page looks and is laid out. You will also begin to use Bootstrap to make your website responsive. This course is aimed at discrete ICT/Computing teachers with little or no experience of web design.

An introduction to computational thinking and the fundamentals of programming

In this course, you will be introduced to problem solving using computational thinking and the fundamental building blocks of programming using a drag and drop block editor. This course is aimed at discrete ICT/Computing teachers with little or no experience of programming/coding.

Creating interactive presentations

In this course, you will learn how to create an interactive kiosk style presentation using Microsoft Powerpoint. You will look at real life examples of interactive presentations, investigate their design features and then learn to recreate similar presentations using hyperlinks and action settings. This course is aimed at teachers who wish to expand how they use Powerpoint within the classroom.
