Scratch workshop: School Collaboration

Introduction to Scratch.

Intended Audience:
Any group of 10 teachers from partner schools or a local cluster or any other school grouping who can organise an available time. This does not need to be a Shared Education partnership.

CCEA will provide a trainer who will come to a suitable school centre or else to a CCEA provided training venue.

Developing Literacy Skills using a NEW CCEA WAU online resource, ‘Woven in Ulster: The Story of Linen’

Are you looking for a new World Around Us topic to explore with your Year 6 or Year 7 pupils?

If so, we have a NEW CCEA online resource ‘Woven In Ulster: the Story of Linen’ which provides teachers with a series of 5 units of work which explore the Linen Industry in Ulster from the mid-1600s right up to the present day and, in particular, the impact which the Ulster Scots community had on this industry.

Intended Audience:
Year 6 or 7 teachers who have an interest in using local history to develop literacy skills and who wish to trial the resource.

This resource training will not only appeal to schools who are situated in areas with a rich linen past, but may also interest schools who are involved in a Shared Education partnership.

Delivery Mode:
This 5 full-day programme which continues into spring term of 2018.
Day 1 – Face-to- face workshop
Day 2 – Face-to- face workshop
Days 3 and 4 – own school setting
Day 5 – Face-to- face evaluation/sharing practice.

Cross-Phase Clusters

These cross-phase clusters provide an opportunity for teachers in Primary and Post-Primary schools to come together with Moderators to discuss standards of work using The Levels of Progression. The group size is approximately 10 teachers.

Teachers are required to submit two samples of pupil work and fill out a brief commentary about each sample, templates are provided (a ½ day sub-cover is available to accommodate this). The work is sent in about 6 weeks prior to the Cluster taking place.

The samples of work are discussed by the teachers and Moderators at each Cluster group in a supportive and positive way.

Intended Audience:
Mathematics and Numeracy Co-ordinators/teachers;
Language and Literacy Co-ordinators/teachers; and
UICT Co-ordinators/teachers.

Delivery Mode:
All day, face-to-face

Gifted & Talented Education

Schools wishing to develop the support for learners who are extremely able may request a school training session. This will look at the different ways learners who are very able may present and the best ways to support each.

Intended Audience:
Mainstream primary and post-primary schools

Social Emotional Behavioural Difficulties

This session gives an overview to school staff of the issues faced by learners. It looks at the impact this has both physically and emotionally and discusses strategies to support learners.
