New assessment arrangements have been in place to support the Northern Ireland Curriculum since September 2012. These include arrangements for the assessment of the cross-curricular skills of Communication, Using Mathematics and Using ICT in Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.
At Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 schools are required to assess and report pupils' progress in the Cross-Curricular Skills. At Key Stages 1 and 2, teachers assess and report with reference to the Levels of Progression for Communication, Using Mathematics and Using ICT. At the end of each key stage, schools are required to report numerical outcomes to parents and to CCEA.
