Teachers assess pupils with reference to Levels of Progression for the Cross-Curricular Skill of Communication. They will take into account the three modes of Talking and Listening, Reading and Writing.
On an ongoing basis pupils will be taking part in activities and tasks that allow them to demonstrate their communication skills, across a range of contexts. Teachers assess the level the pupil is working at in Communication through observation, discussion and monitoring their work.
This helps teachers gain an understanding of:
- the level the pupil is working at; and
- how best to help improve their learning.
